Introduction
La finale de la Coupe d'Europe réunit les 8 équipes ayant terminé aux deux premières places des tours préliminaires. Paris accueillera donc les meilleurs clubs européens pour une compétition acharnée.
The final step of the European cup gathers the 8 teams which have ended up within the two first positions of the preliminary tournaments. Hence Paris will welcome the best European clubs for a furious competition.
Les finalistes, hormis CAPSAAA Paris seront connus au terme de ce tour préliminaire, en mars 2008.
The final competitors, apart of CAPSAAA Paris, will be known at the end if the preliminary tournament in March 2008.
A nouveau à Paris : les instances européennes de l'IWBF et leurs différents représentants, en renouvelant ce choix du club organisateur en lui confiant la finale, ont souhaité :
Once again in Paris : the European IWBF authorities and there representatives, while renewing this organizing basket club have expected to:
- valoriser une discipline sportive en pleine expansion en France
- Valorise a sport which is widely expending in France.
- souligner l'incroyable progression du club parisien, crée il y a 12 ans et qui s'est lancé dans la compétition il y a 5 ans à peine !
- Focus on the amazing progress of a Parisian club, created 12 years ago and which has entered the competition 5 years ago only.
- récompenser la qualité de l'organisation du tour préliminaire en 2007 qui a fait l'objet de rapports officiels élogieux.
- Reward the quality of the organisation of the preliminary tour in 2007, which has been officially pointed out as brilliant
La finale en chiffres

- 8 équipes pour 28 matchs : 4 jours non stop et accueillir 120 personnes
- 30 officiels (arbitres, OTM,…)
- un hébergement de qualité, représentant près de 100 chambres pour les délégations sportives et les officiels

- Quality accommodation of almost 100 rooms for the sporty delegations and the official staff
- des transports permanents et des liaisons régulières entre les différents temps forts (une dizaine de minibus retenue pour les transports quotidiens et des bus adaptés affrétés pour les déplacements entre hôtels et aéroports)
- A permanent transport service and some regular link between the key moments. (About 10 minibuses for the daily transport and some accessible buses to link hostels and airports
- une restauration réactive pour plusieurs centaines de personnes par jour.
- A reactive restoration for several hundreds of persons per day.
- une centaine de bénévoles (en rotation sur les 4 jours de compétition) et une dizaine d'hôtesses bilingues assurant le lien avec les équipes.
- One hundred of volunteers (in a rotation for the 4 days of the competition) and ten bilingual hostesses to make link with the teams.
- 1 seul gymnase (STADE Pierre de COUBERTIN) et ses 2 salles complètement accessibles.
- A unique stadium (STADE Pierre de COUBERTIN) and its 2 absolutely accessible rooms.
Construit pour l'Exposition internationale de 1937, il fut reconstruit après avoir été bombardé pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Chaque année s'y déroule une centaine de manifestations de judo, karaté, boxe, escrime, danse, gymnastique, basket-ball, handball, …L'équipe de basket du Paris Levallois Basket y a élu domicile. La grande salle s'insère dans un ensemble sportif comprenant deux salles annexes de 265 places et une salle de conférences de 230 places.…
Built for the 1937 international exposition, it has been rebuilt after being bombed during the Second World War. Every year takes place a hundred of demonstrations of judo, karate, boxing, fencing, dance, gymnastics, basketball, handball there… The Paris Levallois Basketball team elected domicile there. The big room is inserted in a sports group consisting of two additional rooms of 265 places and a room of conferences of 230 places.
La Mairie de Paris a entrepris la rénovation totale de cet établissement en 1990. L'aire de jeu a ainsi été agrandie pour atteindre les normes internationales, et sa capacité est ainsi passée à 4 016 places assises en configuration handball.
Town of Paris undertook the complete renovation of this establishment in 1990. The playground was so extended to attain international norms, and its capacity is so crossed to 4 016 seats in a handball shape.
Les conditions d'accueil des sportifs, des spectateurs et de la presse ont également été améliorées et seront mises à disposition de la COUPE VERGAUWEN : rénovation des vestiaires, aménagement d'un cabinet médical (présence d'un poste de sécurité et de premiers soins), création d'une cafétéria et d'un espace de catering, d'un salon d'accueil, d'une salle de presse équipée…
The conditions of reception of the sportsmen, audience and the press were also enhanced and will be made available for THE VERGAUWEN CUP : renovation of cloakroom, development of a medical practice (presence of a safety and first care post), creation of a snack bar and a space of catering, of a reception room, an equipped press room …
Une grande verrière de 1 000 m2 a été installée et permet aux spectateurs qui y pénètrent de voir immédiatement ce qui se déroule sur le terrain central.
A big glass roof of 1 000 m2 was installed and allows the audience who penetrate there to see immediately what is running on the main court.

Les atouts du lieu unique :
Soutenu par la Mairie de Paris et dans le respect de chaque équipe, CAPSAAA a souhaité organiser la compétition dans un lieu unique (et non dans deux gymnases séparés) afin que tous les matchs, dont certains se disputeront en simultané, puissent bénéficier de la même qualité d'accueil.
Ce choix permet également de limiter les déplacements de joueurs et de matériel en offrant à tous les mêmes prestations et un public disponible.
The trumps of the unique place :
Supported by the Town of Paris and respecting every team, CAPSAAA liked to organize competition in an unique place (and not in two separated gymnasiums) so that all matchs, among which some will argue simultaneously, can benefit from the same quality of reception.
This choice also allows to restrict displacements of players and equipment while giving to each the same benefits and an present public.
